Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., commonly known as Snoop Dogg, is a rapper, songwriter, actor, and media personality born in Long Beach, California, on October 20, 1971.
His mother, who sang and played the piano at their neighborhood church, exposed him to music. Snoop began rapping in his early adolescence, and Dr. Dre, a renowned rapper and producer, first heard him in the early 1990s.
Snoop’s debut album, “Doggystyle,” which he released in 1993, was a financial and critical triumph, selling over 800,000 copies in its first week. Hit singles from the album were “Gin and Juice” and “Who Am I (What’s My Name)?”
