Cher – Cherilyn Sarkisian

An American singer, actress, and television personality by the name of Cherilyn Sarkisian. Her family moved to Los Angeles after she was born in El Centro, California, on May 20, 1946. Georgia Holt, Cher’s mother, was a singer and actress, and John Sarkisian, her father, was an Armenian-American truck driver.

Along with her then-husband Sonny Bono, Cher started her musical career in the 1960s as a member of the duet Sonny & Cher. The group’s “I Got You, Babe,” which peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 list in 1965, was one of their many popular songs. They also served as hosts of The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour, a well-liked television variety program that ran from 1971 until 1974.

Cher established a lucrative solo career following the dissolution of the group in 1975, with hit songs including “Believe,” “If I Could Turn Back Time,” and “Strong Enough.” She is one of the best-selling musicians of all time with over 100 million recordings sold globally. Over her career, Cher has received various honors, including three Golden Globe Awards, an Academy Award, a Grammy Award, and an Emmy Award.

Cher has appeared in several movies and television programs in addition to her singing career.
