Amy Poehler

Amy Poehler was born on September 16, 1971, in Newton, Massachusetts. She grew raised close by in Burlington and went to Burlington High School. Poehler continued her studies in media and communication at Boston College after graduation.
Poehler started doing stand-up comedy while still in college and finally left to concentrate solely on her comedy profession. She relocated to Chicago, where she trained at the Improv Olympic and Second City theatres. Poehler joined the cast of the sketch comedy program Saturday Night Live in 1996, where she immediately became well-known for her impressions and unique characters.
In addition to her work on Saturday Night Live, Poehler has also acted in a variety of movies, such as Sisters, Mean Girls, and Baby Mama. She has lent her voice to a number of animated movies, including Inside Out and The Lego Batman Movie.
For her work in humor, Poehler has won various honors and prizes, including a Golden Globe and multiple Emmy Awards. Poehler is renowned for her philanthropy and activism in addition to her acting and comedic careers. She is a strong supporter of a number of causes, including education and women’s rights, and is co-founder of the online community Smart Girls.
