From 2002 until 2007, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam presided as India’s eleventh president. He was a scientist and engineer before becoming president, and he was instrumental in developing India’s military missile program as well as its civilian space program. His birthday was October 15, 1931, and he died on July 27, 2015, in Shillong, Meghalaya. He was born in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, India. Known as the “Missile Man of India” for his contributions to Indian missile technology, he was also known as the “People’s President” for his modesty and humility. Millions of young Indians look forward to him as an inspiration and a visionary.
