Tennessee Williams was a renowned American playwright and author who is considered one of the greatest playwrights of the 20th century. He was born in Columbus, Mississippi in 1911 and grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. Williams wrote a number of successful plays, including “The Glass Menagerie,” “A Streetcar Named Desire,” and “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” all of which were later adapted into films. His works are known for their complex characters, vivid imagery, and themes of desire, loss, and the search for identity. Williams was also known for his tumultuous personal life and struggled with addiction and mental health issues. He died in 1983 at the age of 71.
